WENP Conference 2024
From strategy to action for nature
On 7 November 2024, the WENP Conference saw the launch of the West of England's Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS). The first to be published in the country, the LNRS sets out the priorities for nature recovery across the region and maps the measures to achieve them. Alongside the LNRS, the Partnership also launched a bespoke delivery Toolkit and nine priority programmes, setting out how we will secure investment over the coming years to bring the strategy to life.
Date: Thurs 7 November 2024
Time: 09:30 - 16:00
Location: The Bristol Pavilion, Seat Unique Stadium (Gloucestershire County Cricket Ground), Nevil Road, Bristol BS7 9EJ
Soon, you will be able to catch up with all the action right here. Via our session recordings, you will hear from environmental leaders, politicians, businesses and other partners about the wonderful nature we have in our region, and pioneering programmes to protect, restore and create more of it.
Speakers included Bristol East MP Kerry McCarthy, Natural England Chair Tony Juniper CBE and Triodos CEO Bevis Watts. Sessions included a panel discussion with prominent funders and investors, asking how they can work together, and with partners, to accelerate the pace and scale of local nature recovery. We heard from a cross-section of WENP partners about their commitment to deliver our shared vision, as well as from councillors across the region’s four Unitary Authorities about the role of local government in facilitating that delivery.
Delegates also enjoyed the first screening of a brand new short film about the West of England’s unique nature and landscapes.
