Nature Recovery Network Modelling
In 2020, WENP published the results of some innovative modelling of Nature Recovery Networks for woodland, grassland and wetland across the region. It mapped of strategic networks and identified connectivity opportunities for each habitat type. The modelling was conducted in accordance with shared principles for Nature Recovery Networks across the South West, agreed by the South West Local Nature Partnerships. The mapping was a snapshot in time and could be repeated as more or better data become available.
This modelling was a key dataset which fed into the development of Focus Areas in our Local Nature Recovery Strategy. As more LNRSs are produced and delivered around the country, the stated policy intention is that they add up to create functional ecological networks at the national scale.
